PRESIDENT'S WELCOME

Welcome to the Asian Society of Transplantation (AST).
Asia is home to more than half of the world’s population and the cradle of many ancient civilizations. Over last few decades Asia has become a global leader in transplantation, with many centers achieving outstanding clinical outcomes and saving thousands of lives.
At the same time, significant challenges remain, including shortage of deceased organ donation, disparities in access to transplantation and healthcare resources across our diverse region.

Mustafa Al-Mousawi, FRCS

President, Asian Society of Transplantation

SECRETARY'S WELCOME

Societies and organisations are evolved conglomerations of individuals created to capture and amplify benefits of combined efforts; much beyond mere self interests. Successful societies enable interaction, introspection, system-building, norms-setting and increased productivity through judicious use of pooled resources.
Organ transplantation too is a multistep, multicomponent procedure brought about by synchronised and collective efforts of a group of professionals. A strong association for its professionals is thus a necessary imperative.

Sanjay Kolte

Secretary-General, Asian Society of Transplantation
